Nastasia's Story: A Loss of Trust.

Even the prettiest girl's need help.

The night was young as Nastasia balanced her two choices: smoke the weed or risk undesirable attention from bullies. If she did it right here, right now, Nastasia could make a pact with this crew of druggies to get them to leave her alone, show them that she was better than all of them. Besides, it was just one smoke, how much harm could it really do? Plus, Nastasia had even heard that weed might become legal in some states, so it cannot be that bad for you. She takes the rolled up drug from the sketchy girl in front of her. Her name is Baisley, a short, stout girl and bully to all. Baisley had stoled Nastasia's lunch or lunch money since the third grade, and Nastasia has decided to put an end to it. Baisley had made a compromise. If Nastasia could not be so stuck up and relax with a good high, then Baisley would leave her alone, along with the rest of her bullying crew.

Although Nastasia has been an advocate for not doing drugs her entire life, she's decided that one smoke can' hurt. Letting the drug enter her blood stream and make her feel like she's flying, Nastasia watches as Baisley begins clapping.

"Congratulations, Nasty. Looks like you aren't as big of a snob as I thought you were," Baisley praises, "From this day forward I will not take your lunch or your lunch money."

Nastasia breathes a sigh of relief and hands the blunt back to Baisley, "Now that that's over with, I need to get going. The parentals will be wondering where I am by now."

"Fine, have fun with your prissy pants mother and father, Nasty," Baisley shouts as Nastasia makes a quick escape.

When she gets to her car, Nastasia realizes the drug has made her a little clumsy and decides to sit and wait for the high to leave. She giggles to herself and plays with the car radio, finding the classical music station quite hilarious. A few minutes later, Nastasia is passed out across the driver's and passenger's seats, snoring to heaven. She never knew a drug could make you feel so lousy and exhausted when it wears off.

Waking up, Nastasia looks lackadaisically at her surroundings and the night before slowly comes back to her. She scrambles for her cell phone, finding 55 missed calls from both of her parents and 32 new voicemails. Nastasia turns the car on quickly, driving home as fast as possible, and runs to her bedroom when she gets there. Stuffing her face in a pillow, she lets out a muffled scream of frustration. Why had she been so stupid? When her parents found her, she knew she was in for a wiping. She cries silently to herself until her mother walks into the bedroom. Finding her missing daughter, Nastasia's mother embraces her, pratically squeezing the air from Nastasia's lungs.

"We thought you were gone forever! How dare you stay out all night and not notify us!" her mother exclaims.

"I'm sorry, mom. I should've called as soon as I knew I was going to be out later than usual, but my phone ran out of battery and I hadn't felt too good after some pasta I had for dinner at a restuarant in the Plaza," Nastasia says, trying to cover her lie with some parts of the truth, "I did not feel well enough to drive home."

"You still could have borrowed a phone!" Her mother cries.

"It was almost midnight, mom! Did you really want me to just walk to some man or woman I don't know and ask for a phone when it was dark and deserted at the Plaza?" Nastasia says, trying to make a clear point.

"No, of course not," her mother sighs, "But next time you leave this house, that cell phone is fully charged!"

     "Yes, ma'am."

After my mother leaves the room, Nastasia takes a few deep breathes to calm herself. How could she lie to her mother about doing something illegal? It was like she hadn't even done anything wrong because her mother wasn't grounding Nastasia for smoking weed. Nastasia lies back down, starting to get a headache, and closes her eyes. How deep of a hole did she just dig with her own mother? How could her mother ever trust Nastasia after one of the biggest lies she has ever told?

Now, Nastasia did not even feel like she could trust herself. So, why should her mother trust her?

************************************

Dear Pretty Girl's,
This is a story I developed about a pretty girl with a very ugly lie. She lost her mother that day in a way worse than death because Nastasia was lying. I realize that all of us have told a lie at some point in time, but some lies are meant to be told. They should not turn into secrets that cannot be told. Just using the drug once influenced Nastasia's self-esteem and confidence to lower. She's now become afraid of her own parents and she cannot trust herself anymore. Once you cannot trust yourself, you know you're at the peak of a very long downward spiral. So, ladies, be drug free. I may not be able to know exactly who does drugs, but I know that I can at least help through my words and examples.

Trust me ladies, no girl is pretty when she's too tipsy to stand or too high to understand.

Sincerely,
A Pretty Girl

From A Pretty Girl To You: A Lesson on Confidence.

A Pretty Girl Lesson

There's some things about girls that can just light up a room. Do you ever wonder why some girls are really popular and maybe you're not, even if they aren't as pretty as you? Well, I have your answer! It's all about confidence and the way they present themselves to others. People like girls who smile instead frown, have good days instead of bad days, and respect themselves as much as they would want everyone else to respect them. I'm in high school, and I know how it is with all of those clique's and popular chicks. You might even be one, but don't forget that the more popular you are, the more another person might look up to you. You are a leader and you have to take daring chances while still maintaining a reputation that won't hurt you in the long run. The key will always be confidence. Every girl looks ten times more pretty with their shoulders back, head up, and a smile on their face. It's always good to shine, so do it often and you might just shock yourself when you have people coming up and asking, "Hey, did you do something different today? You look fantastic!"

When I was younger, I was bullied. I had a really tough time with my self-esteem. I guess, I just didn't know who I was yet, and that in itself did not help with my confidence. But, I found a passion in writing and I figured out who I am and who I want to be, and now, I'm making my way toward my dream one step at a time. I love this quote I found by Eleanor Roosevelt and I wish I had found it sooner. If you have ever been bullied then "being bullied" has probably become a fear, and it was not until a few months ago that I realized I had to look that fear in the face.

"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot."
-Eleanor Roosevelt
So, the moral of this message from me to you is that I want you to live without fear, and even when you come across a situation that makes your skin crawl, look at it and throw it in the trash. Just keep a smile on your face and be confident and I promise life will hand you a plate full of victory.

Sincerely,
A Pretty Girl

Secrets From A Pretty Girl: Colors, Accessories, & Nails.

When it comes to Ugly Lies, why not do it looking Pretty?
Even though we all have our infinite amount of secrets, a smart girl knows how to keep them while looking beautiful. In my case, I'm not a girl who lies a lot, it just comes naturally when it comes to certain things, such as who ate the last of the cookie dough? But, thank-fully, I know how to keep myself looking great even after all of that cookie dough! I'm a girl in love blue's, teal's, aqua's, jade's, or practically any other shade of blue out there. It reminds me of either a brilliant sunny day with clear skies or a midnight sky that my boyfriend and I are sitting under. Your clothing is supposed to make a statement about who you are and who you want to be. I love going elegant and sophisticated, but I also really enjoy the days I can be laid back and relaxed. Plus, if you're a girl who loves fashion and needs a little help, I'm here! I love giving people fashion advice, and when I don't have an answer, I go straight to my sister. She's going to a college that specializes in Art & Design and deals with anything fashion-related!

I really love the colors that are put together in the outfit to the right. It's a mix of purple's and blue's, all different, but not too flashy or clashy. Remember ladies: flashy and clashy is a NO, NO, NO! No guy is going to want to walk up and talk to a girl that's as bright as a car's headlights or looking like a blob of colors. If you play it just right, with a perfect mix of color, then you are off to a great start! I mean seriously, look how perfectly balanced the amount of accessories are on each hand and the colors used are spread between a light gold and a white. The funny thing is that if this girl had added one more color or one more accessory, it would have been way too much. Although you wouldn't think of fashion as being a subject of perfect balance, it actually is. Finding the right way to wear things, is the first step in successful dressing.

If you're someone who does not really own a lot of jewelry but wants to wear some color, play your look up with painting your nails and wearing a bright lipstick, BUT remember, if wearing a bright lip, make sure to play the rest of you face soft, with the exclusion of perhaps a smokey eye look. When it comes to nails, have fun with it! Google some patterns or look for tips on cool designs. I know that using tape to tape off different designs, is a great way to create a look that others have not seen before. If you have a boyfriend, sometimes painting your nails his favorite color will make him happy in more ways than one. But, ladies, if you have a crazy redneck, but totally adorable boyfriend like mine, who's favorite color is camouflage...I would suggest asking him what his second favorite color is. Unless, of course, you find camouflage attractive, then by all means paint your nails that design! Either way, something different, will usually tend to work out for the better. I absolutely the picture to the left. The pink, gold, and white play perfectly off each other!

That wraps it up on fashion for pretty girls with ugly lies for today! I plan on adding a new submission on how to make your summer dresses work for fall, so please come back and watch for it to pop up!

Sincerely,
A Pretty Girl
