From A Pretty Girl To You: A Lesson on Confidence.

A Pretty Girl Lesson

There's some things about girls that can just light up a room. Do you ever wonder why some girls are really popular and maybe you're not, even if they aren't as pretty as you? Well, I have your answer! It's all about confidence and the way they present themselves to others. People like girls who smile instead frown, have good days instead of bad days, and respect themselves as much as they would want everyone else to respect them. I'm in high school, and I know how it is with all of those clique's and popular chicks. You might even be one, but don't forget that the more popular you are, the more another person might look up to you. You are a leader and you have to take daring chances while still maintaining a reputation that won't hurt you in the long run. The key will always be confidence. Every girl looks ten times more pretty with their shoulders back, head up, and a smile on their face. It's always good to shine, so do it often and you might just shock yourself when you have people coming up and asking, "Hey, did you do something different today? You look fantastic!"

When I was younger, I was bullied. I had a really tough time with my self-esteem. I guess, I just didn't know who I was yet, and that in itself did not help with my confidence. But, I found a passion in writing and I figured out who I am and who I want to be, and now, I'm making my way toward my dream one step at a time. I love this quote I found by Eleanor Roosevelt and I wish I had found it sooner. If you have ever been bullied then "being bullied" has probably become a fear, and it was not until a few months ago that I realized I had to look that fear in the face.

"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot."
-Eleanor Roosevelt
So, the moral of this message from me to you is that I want you to live without fear, and even when you come across a situation that makes your skin crawl, look at it and throw it in the trash. Just keep a smile on your face and be confident and I promise life will hand you a plate full of victory.

Sincerely,

From A Pretty Girl To You: Wearing Summer As Fall.

Need a cheap way to dress for fall? Try wearing what you already own!

Fretting about summer ending because the cold is coming and you have absolutely no time or money to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe? Well, ladies, I have your answer: LAYERS! Pair your cute vintage shorts with cozy black tights, knee-high boots, and then a summer top with a cute jacket and a warm scarf. Even if your missing boots and tights, those are a quick and relatively cheap buy at a local store. It's easier to use what you've got then waste all of your money on new clothes. Of course, every now and then it's fun to pitch some summer stuff and buy new fall stuff, but why not hold out for a while longer and use your money on getting something else. I know in my case, I've been saving up for a record player( crazy right?)! The next few pictures are to help you get thinking. I would suggest going through your closet and pairing different outfits together. It might help you see what you do and do not need to go out and buy.

Try something like this, a t-shirt, tank top, scarf, high waisted skirt, belt, tights, and boots. Then, if the weather decides to drop a few more degrees, throw on a cute, but warm, jacket!

I absolutely love this look. It's so sophisticated, yet brilliantly thought out. It's warm but cool enough for an average fall day. This is a great visual for what I was saying about utilizing what you already own. Sure, the jacket was probably bought, but those boots and that dress could have been from this girl's late summer wardrobe.

Guess what ladies, it's time to raid mothers, grandmothers, or even fathers and grandfathers closets for oversized sweaters! They are perfect for this weather, and if you can't find one in a closet, I guarantee you can find one for at least three dollars at a local Goodwill or other thrift stores nearby!

That's all for today on how to wear your summer clothes during the fall! Have fun figuring out your new wardrobes!

Secrets From A Pretty Girl: Colors, Accessories, & Nails.

When it comes to Ugly Lies, why not do it looking Pretty?
Even though we all have our infinite amount of secrets, a smart girl knows how to keep them while looking beautiful. In my case, I'm not a girl who lies a lot, it just comes naturally when it comes to certain things, such as who ate the last of the cookie dough? But, thank-fully, I know how to keep myself looking great even after all of that cookie dough! I'm a girl in love blue's, teal's, aqua's, jade's, or practically any other shade of blue out there. It reminds me of either a brilliant sunny day with clear skies or a midnight sky that my boyfriend and I are sitting under. Your clothing is supposed to make a statement about who you are and who you want to be. I love going elegant and sophisticated, but I also really enjoy the days I can be laid back and relaxed. Plus, if you're a girl who loves fashion and needs a little help, I'm here! I love giving people fashion advice, and when I don't have an answer, I go straight to my sister. She's going to a college that specializes in Art & Design and deals with anything fashion-related!

I really love the colors that are put together in the outfit to the right. It's a mix of purple's and blue's, all different, but not too flashy or clashy. Remember ladies: flashy and clashy is a NO, NO, NO! No guy is going to want to walk up and talk to a girl that's as bright as a car's headlights or looking like a blob of colors. If you play it just right, with a perfect mix of color, then you are off to a great start! I mean seriously, look how perfectly balanced the amount of accessories are on each hand and the colors used are spread between a light gold and a white. The funny thing is that if this girl had added one more color or one more accessory, it would have been way too much. Although you wouldn't think of fashion as being a subject of perfect balance, it actually is. Finding the right way to wear things, is the first step in successful dressing.

If you're someone who does not really own a lot of jewelry but wants to wear some color, play your look up with painting your nails and wearing a bright lipstick, BUT remember, if wearing a bright lip, make sure to play the rest of you face soft, with the exclusion of perhaps a smokey eye look. When it comes to nails, have fun with it! Google some patterns or look for tips on cool designs. I know that using tape to tape off different designs, is a great way to create a look that others have not seen before. If you have a boyfriend, sometimes painting your nails his favorite color will make him happy in more ways than one. But, ladies, if you have a crazy redneck, but totally adorable boyfriend like mine, who's favorite color is camouflage...I would suggest asking him what his second favorite color is. Unless, of course, you find camouflage attractive, then by all means paint your nails that design! Either way, something different, will usually tend to work out for the better. I absolutely the picture to the left. The pink, gold, and white play perfectly off each other!

That wraps it up on fashion for pretty girls with ugly lies for today! I plan on adding a new submission on how to make your summer dresses work for fall, so please come back and watch for it to pop up!

Sincerely,

It's Not Taryn: Short Sample from Derek Strangler

He never meant to hurt her.
He just wanted to be accepted.
But acceptance was wickedly disastrous.

It was my turn to pick the girl up and bring her to Zane. It was my turn to knock her out and bring her to the head of the clan. But the way she smiled at me, the way...God, the way she saw through me. I knew I had to do something. I had to get rid of her. She knew too much yet she knew nothing at all. She would never be able to burden the secret that I needed her to hold safely. I had to dispose of her.

"Did you get the girl?" Kyle asks from the front seat of the van, driving quickly and efficiently.

I play it off like I've made a mistake and fumble around with her head.

"Damn it, it's not her."

"What do you mean it's not her?" Kyle says, screeching the van to a halt.

"This isn't Taryn!" I cry, hoping my acting will work. Kyle was not the brightest so I figured I could make it out of this situation okay.

Kyle peers around his seat and stares at Taryn's face that I've smashed in. She is unrecognizable, thank-fully. He frowns deeply, staring at me with eyes like knives.

"Do you know how much Zane is going to kill us when we bring him the wrong girl? He wants Taryn!"

"Than, let's not bring him anyone."

"Are you insane?" Kyle cries, slamming his hand hard against the steering wheel.

"No, and you know I'm right! Bringing Zane nothing is better then bringing him an innocent girl," I exclaim, throwing my hands up in frustration.

Kyle sighs and shrugs, "Fine." He pulls the van up next to a run down alleyway and then pushes the button that automatically opens my car door. It slides open and i lift Taryn up onto my shoulder. I curse as I lay her down among trash bags and can't feel her pulse. Have I killed her? Did I kill Taryn?

My memory seems to float off into the distance during a time when I would watch Taryn play with her younger sister at the park when we were in the fifth grade. Her blond curls flowing down her back and her smile glowing in the radiant sunlight. She was such a beautiful girl, but I remind myself that she knew too much about me. She was getting too close to the answer about what I really was. I step away from her, what I think, dead body and hop back into the van. Kyle closes the door and drives quickly away before anyone can catch our faces and match them with the dead girl in the alleyway. I try to forget Taryn as we make our way to the Cloud, but I do not know if I can. In a way, she had meant something to me, and I threw it away when I punched her in the face.

I stare at the window, watching the alleyway get further and further away. I swallow my guilt and climb into the front seat next to Kyle. We still had Zane to face, and he was not going to be happy with tonight's results.

From Me to You: Taryn's Story.

She knew something.
She knew about Derek Strangler.
And she wanted to know more.

My name was Taryn. I was from a small town where everybody knew everybody and I knew everybody who knew everybody. At least, that’s what it seemed like before Derek. I had never, in my entire sixteen years, felt the urge or I guess you could say attraction towards a guy like Derek before. He was the tall, dark and mysterious stranger who picked up all the hoes and had a date for every high school dance. Derek Strangler, my tall, dark and mysterious enemy. I could never be caught alone with him. If I was to be alone with him, I knew more than the emotion of fear would find it’s way leaping through my heart. I would sear with desire, and it would be a desire I would not proud of. I was not a girl who goes after the guys with the trashy motor cycles and parents who didn’t care about his grades. I was not the type of girl who would go after a Derek Strangler. Yet, I did.
My plan had been simple. Find Derek, sneak him my flirtatious note, and meet him at the park right down the street from my house. That way, I could make a quick run for it if I needed too. But, something happened. When I went to give him the note, carefully folded with the mark of my lipstick pressed to the front, right underneath my name written in fine cursive, Derek stopped me. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me into the library, which was quiet and sealed off from the rest of the world. The busy school hallways were lost to me as he wrapped his arms around my hips.

“I’ve been waiting for you, Taryn.”

He said it so mischievously, as if he didn’t dare say it too loud. It was as if we were a secret so precious that nobody could ever know about us. In an instant, my desire rose and I leaned forward for what I knew was to come, but he pushed me away lightly. I stumbled backwards, looking at him with delight. He smiled darkly and his ravishing green eyes sliced into my insides making them ooze with emotion. He took my hand, sliding a piece of folded paper into it, and then with a brief smile, he vanished. I stood in utter shock, wondering if what had happened had really just taken place. I had wished time would stop so I could savor the moment, but instead I looked down at my hand, his touch still lingering, and opened it to reveal my note. When he had taken it? I had no idea, but I opened it to find my neatly written note crossed out. I frowned and my eyebrows furrowed as I followed the giant arrow pointing down to small italics.

“The park, tonight.”

I read it over and over again until my eyes had become itchy and read from not blinking. Then, with a deep breath I folded the note back up and stuffed it into my back pocket. I rushed out of the library, biting my lip in anticipation. I was going to meet up with Derek Strangler tonight.

Getting home, I dressed into my jeans that had fit my butt perfectly, and my skin tight, v-neck t-shirt that showed my curves off flawlessly. After touching up my red lipstick and hair spraying my blonde curls into an effortless looking, but elegant, bun, I climbed out my window into the summer night air. I walked five minutes to the park and sat in my favorite red swing until Derek showed up. He had never mentioned a meeting time, and I had prayed I hadn’t missed him. Luckily, an hour after sunset, I saw his familiar form walking up to me from the playground gates.

“You came,” he had said, a hint of a smile lighting up his face.

“Now, is there any girl who would miss a chance to meet up with Derek Strangler?” I asked him, standing from my swing and putting my hands on my hips. I tended to do that when I wanted to prove a point, and this was defiantly a point to prove.

Every girl wanted Derek Strangler, but he chose me.

He smiled, this time almost a whole smile, which caught me off guard. Derek Strangler was actually smiling at me. He moved closer, the smell of his cologne wafting up from his black leather jacket that he never fails to wear. I smiled then, ready to embrace. Then, all I saw was a hand and the next thing I knew I was on the ground of the playground, my vision blurred. I saw feet run into the park and I felt a strong hand throw me over a shoulder. The next thing I knew, I was lying in the back of a car, driving somewhere I had never been before.

Before my heart stopped, all I heard was the dark voice of Derek Strangler. He had said something about a secret and something about a lie. Something about me knowing too much. Then, I was dead.

Welcome to PrettyGirl.UglyLies!

Fashion.
Beauty.
Everything you could ever imagine.
Then, there's the lies.

Welcome to PrettyGirl.UglyLies!

This is a blog made personally for you.
Yes, that means you are pretty, that you are fashionable, and that one day you'll live for something amazing. But, it's the lie that here on this blog we like to hear about. The juicy drama floating through the air. The lies that started it all. Be prepared to read some very real yet very fake stuff. It's not that I'm lying and it's not that you're lying... It's that we are fictional. People wanting to create a story. So, listen to my stories, no, our stories. Things I post are VERY real, but I might add a twist every now and then. I'm sure you'll understand once you read my first story. Of course my first story will be the most fictional, the most filled with lies, because I haven't had your input yet.

Every week, there will be a new story and every week you have one duty. That duty is to write down you deepest and darkest secret included with a FAKE name. Now darlings, be wise and do not put your real name. If you do so, I can guarantee one day someone somewhere will read your secret and tell the person it is about. So, be smart dears, and play this game with a pretty smile.

Yes, I personally have a thing for games. Don't you? There's something so fun and yet so bad about it that it helps get all of that negative energy out. Now, I'm not saying that my stories will be dark and deadly...wait, I am saying that! Dark and deadly sounds absolutely stunning in a terrible way! Make sense? Probably not, but why does "sense" have to matter? why does anything have to make sense?

I tell you what. I'll tell you my deepest secret if you tell me yours.
